Can I get help with the cost? +
If you are in receipt of Income Related Benefits or have a low income, you may be able to receive a refund on the cost of your journey. Patients who are in receipt of certain benefits or are on the Lower Income Scheme are eligible to apply for help with the necessary transport costs for NHS treatment under the care of a consultant. The costs may be paid in full, or in part, and these may include:
- Public Transport fares.
- A mileage allowance for travel by private car or the equivalent public transport costs (whichever is the less).
- Contributions the patient may make towards transport costs if they are taken to or from the hospital by a community transport provider or a local voluntary car scheme.
The main contact point for this scheme will be General Offices based in each of our Hospitals.
I plan to travel by car – what about parking? +
Withybush Hospital – on-site parking is free.
Glangwili Hospital – Parking at Glangwili General Hospital can be challenging during busy periods. For this reason, we have set up a park and ride service from the Nantyci showground car park to the hospital. This is open to all patients, visitors and staff and only takes 15 minutes to go between the sites. The service operates from 07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, and runs every 30 minutes. Pick up from the showground is on the hour and half past the hour. Pick up from the hospital is every quarter to and quarter past the hour. The cost of this service is £1 per person and includes return. For more information about this service, please follow this link: http://www.wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/862/page/83744
