Under the Bonnet: The Nuts and Bolts of Pembrokeshire Community Transport
While drivers are often the visible face of community transport, there is a vast network of people, partnerships and processes working behind the scenes to ensure that passengers can stay connected, independent, and engaged within their communities.
As part of Community Transport Week 2026, Pembrokeshire Association of Community Transport Organisations (PACTO) will be celebrating the amazing people who help keep Community Transport moving across Pembrokeshire.
Behind every journey is a story. This Community Transport Week, we are lifting the bonnet to meet the people who keep Pembrokeshire moving.
Through a series of stories, interviews and ‘A Day in the Life’ features, we will introduce you to those whose hard work makes a real difference every day.
We will take you behind the scenes to see what really goes into making community transport work. From organising journeys and supporting volunteers to working with local organisations and tackling transport challenges, there’s a lot more happening than most people realise.
By lifting the bonnet, we will reveal the people, teamwork, partnerships and dedication that help to keep the wheels turning.
Behind every journey is a team of people working together to solve problems, create opportunities and help people stay connected to the people, places and activities that matter most.
Community Transport is about much more than getting from A to B. It is about helping people stay independent, connected to their communities and able to enjoy the things that enrich their lives.
The key message this week is that every journey starts long before the vehicle leaves. Community Transport Week 2026 is an opportunity to celebrate the dedicated people, partnerships and processes working ‘under the bonnet’ to keep communities connected, independent and moving forward.
