PACTO Named Finalist in Two National Social Business Wales Awards

Pembrokeshire Association of Community Transport Organisations (PACTO) are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories at the Social Business Wales Awards 2026.

PACTO have been shortlisted in the Social Enterprise Innovation Award and the Community-Based Social Enterprise Award.

The Social Business Wales Awards celebrate outstanding social enterprises from across Wales that are creating positive change within their communities. With a record number of entries received this year, we are incredibly proud that PACTO has been recognised among Wales’ leading social businesses.

The nominations recognise PACTO’s work over the past three years to transform Community Transport across Pembrokeshire, helping older people, disabled people and rural communities access healthcare, services and opportunities through innovative, community-led solutions.

Through initiatives including the Transport Connector Service, Wheelchair Passenger Assessment and Passport Scheme, volunteer development programmes, accessible vehicle investment and the publication of Pembrokeshire’s first Community Transport Strategy, PACTO has worked with partners across the county to create a more connected, inclusive and resilient transport network.

During the Motability Foundation-funded Transformation Project:

  • More than 123,000 passenger journeys were delivered
  • Almost 15,000 healthcare journeys enabled access to vital appointments and treatment
  • More than 4,400 people accessed Community Transport services for the first time
  • An estimated £4.6 million of social value was generated for communities across Pembrokeshire

Ady Poole, General Manager of PACTO, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories. This recognition belongs to our volunteers, staff, trustees, member organisations and partners who work tirelessly to support communities across Pembrokeshire.

“Community Transport is far more than a journey from A to B. It helps people access healthcare, maintain their independence, stay connected and participate fully in community life.

“We are proud to represent Pembrokeshire on the national stage.”

The winners will be announced at the Social Business Wales Awards Ceremony on 7 October 2026 in Pontypridd.

Thank you to everyone who has supported PACTO and Community Transport across Pembrokeshire. We look forward to celebrating with our fellow finalists from across Wales.
