New VC Gallery Community Transport Coordinator makes flying start

We are delighted to recognise the fantastic impact that Marcia Kidney is already making in her new role as Community Transport Coordinator at VC Gallery.

Marcia has hit the ground running, working closely with the PACTO Transformation Project team – particularly alongside Damian Golden, Accessible Vehicle Coordinator – to strengthen and develop Community Transport delivery. Emma Bingham, Development Manager for Wales at Community Transport Association, will also be providing ongoing advice and guidance to Marcia.

Importantly, Marcia already volunteers as a mental health counsellor at VC Gallery on Fridays, and this new role perfectly complements her existing work – strengthening the support available to members and service users.

This role has been made possible through funding from the Motability Foundation, helping to build capacity, strengthen sector knowledge, and lay strong foundations for the future of community transport.

Her impact is already clear:

• Increasing capacity within VC Gallery’s community transport service
• Supporting and coordinating volunteer drivers
• Improving planning and day-to-day transport operations
• Ensuring services better meet the needs of VC Gallery members and service users

This is a fantastic example of how investment in people and partnerships is creating a more coordinated, sustainable and responsive community transport system – helping more people stay connected, independent and supported.
