PACTO brings community partners together to support transport to Connecting the Community event

Pembrokeshire Association of Community Transport Organisations (PACTO) is proud to have helped bring together Haverfordwest Town Council, Connecting the Community and Bloomfield Community Transport (NDCSA) to provide transport to an important community event taking place at HaverHub on Thursday, 29 October.

The initiative highlights the vital role that Community Transport (CT) can play in bringing people together, improving accessibility and ensuring that individuals who may otherwise face transport barriers have the opportunity to participate in local activities and events.

Through its work across Pembrokeshire, PACTO supports collaboration between community organisations, local authorities and transport operators, helping turn community ambitions into practical solutions. By connecting the right partners and facilitating access to suitable transport, PACTO aims to make it easier for people with mobility needs to get out and about, meet others and remain actively involved in their communities.

The transport arrangements for the HaverHub event, Connecting the Community, demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved when organisations work together towards a shared goal. By combining local knowledge, community connections and accessible transport provision, the partners are helping to make the event more inclusive and welcoming to those who might otherwise struggle to attend.

PACTO would like to extend a special thank you to the Mayor of Haverfordwest, Councillor Randell Izaiah Thomas-Turner, for his dedication and commitment to making this initiative happen. Thanks also go to the Bloomfield Community Transport team, particularly driver Steve Rigby, for their support in helping to deliver the transport arrangements.

Pick-up points will be available at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre, The Hive and Pembrokeshire Archives, with return transport also provided to help attendees travel to and from the event.

Members of the public are encouraged to come along, get involved and enjoy Connecting the Community at HaverHub. Those wishing to use the transport service can book their journey by following this link.

This initiative is another example of how partnership working can help overcome transport barriers, strengthen community connections and create more opportunities for people across Pembrokeshire to take part in community life.
