Volunteer drivers still needed urgently
We have some new volunteer drivers, doing great work alongside established volunteers, but we do still have need of more volunteer car drivers just now...
Pembrokeshire’s most isolated people still need your help – and all you need is a bit of time, a driving licence and a smile!
Our volunteers love their volunteering, and the people they meet – but with a few retiring recently we’re having to turn passengers down – and sometimes it’s to essential health appointments, or shopping they can’t get any other way.
RVS (the Royal Volunteer Service) need drivers to provide a lifeline to people in Pembrokeshire. We need drivers with their own cars too, and we reimburse mileage costs, but our most desperate need is for people to drive our accessible cars (which are based in Haverfordwest) – we desperately need a few drivers who can commit to, say, a day a week or fortnight.
Not everyone uses the internet or has family close by, so even buying groceries can be almost impossible for some people in the County and of course, we all want to get out of the house once in a while. Our passengers are people just like us – and some of our volunteers make good friends with people they meet through their volunteering.
If you or someone you know might be able to help, even if you can’t commit much time, please give us a call or drop us a line – we can fill you in on the details and you can see if you’d like to help. Contact Emma Lewis on 07715 889 894 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d really appreciate your help!
Most Community Transport services in Pembrokeshire are run by volunteers and we're always looking for new people to join the team!
There are opportunities for drivers and non-drivers. It's a great way to meet people and help people. If you would like to join us, we'd love to have you!
Social Services Voluntary Drivers scheme
Due to the success of our Social Services Voluntary Drivers scheme, we are in search of volunteer drivers to transport young people to and from school/contact/appointments. All you need is a car with relevant insurance, a standard driving licence, some spare time and a desire to help. We reimburse the whole journey mileage at a rate of 45p per mile and all out of pocket expenses.
The role is also subject to an enhanced DBS check, and 2 references. Volunteers will also receive training in Tier 1 Child Safeguarding.
Please contact Dawn Howells on 01437 775223 / email@example.com for further details.
